Report: Dolphins agree to deal with Smiley

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Dolphins have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent guard Justin Smiley, who spent each of his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel said the deal is worth $25 million over five years with a $9 million signing bonus, and is contingent upon Smiley passing a physical on Friday, the first day of free agency in the NFL.

Smiley played just eight games last season because of a shoulder injury that required surgery. He started every game of the 2005 and '06 seasons, and made nine starts in his rookie campaign of 2004.

The 26-year-old native of Georgia was a second-round pick in the 2004 draft after a standout collegiate career at Alabama.
