Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms on a six- year contract with Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Trufant.
The Seattle Times reported on its website Wednesday that the deal totals $50.2 million, with $20 million in guaranteed money. Trufant, 27, will earn $28 million over the first three years of the deal, according to the Times.
Seattle had placed the franchise tag on the cornerback in February, which, under the franchise agreement, would have paid Trufant $9.465 million for the 2008 season -- an average of the top five players at his position.
The 5-foot-11, 197-pounder picked off seven passes in 2007 and made his first Pro Bowl appearance. A Tacoma native and Washington State product, Trufant was originally selected by the Seahawks as the 11th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He has started all 78 career games played and finished second on the team in 2007 with 85 tackles (78 solo), leading the team with 16 passes defended.
