Foxboro, MA (Sports Network) - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady might be done for the season after suffering a left knee injury in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Boston Globe and several other sources said that Brady suffered a torn serious anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and will miss the remainder of the season.
Last season's Most Valuable Player was hit in the back of his left knee by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard and crumpled to the turf, clutching the knee with 7:27 left in the opening quarter.
He was helped to the sideline by team staff limping noticeably, and went to the locker room for evaluation. He did not return.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said after the game that he did not have any update and that tests were still being run on Brady, who will have an MRI exam on Monday.
The 31-year-old was 7-of-11 for 76 yards prior to the injury. While there was no update on his condition following the game, it was announced that he is set to have an MRI on Monday.
Matt Cassel took over under center on the following series and led the Pats to the first touchdown of the contest, a 10-yard pass to Randy Moss.
Cassel completed the game by throwing for 152 yards and one score on 13-of-18 passes.
