Daily Racing Form columnist Joe Hirsch dies

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Longtime Daily Racing Form columnist Joe Hirsch died Friday at the age of 80.

Hirsch suffered for many years from Parkinson's disease. He died at St. Luke's Hospital in New York.

Considered the dean of American turf writers, Hirsch spent more than 50 years covering thoroughbred racing. He retired in 2003.
