Celtics aim for home-and-home sweep of Raptors

(Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics finally broke out of their slumber by ending a four-game losing streak with a win over the Toronto Raptors. The two teams will meet again Monday night in the back end of a home-and-home series from TD Banknorth Garden.

The Celtics returned to their winning ways with Sunday's 94-88 victory over the Raptors at Air Canada Centre, as Ray Allen posted a season-high 36 points on 11-of-14 shooting. Allen made eight of his 10 three-point tries for the Celtics, who had dropped four straight and seven of nine after a team-record 19-game winning streak.

Rajon Rondo posted 14 points and 11 assists, while Kevin Garnett had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Paul Pierce added 11 points, six assists and six rebounds for Boston. The Celtics will open a short two-game homestand versus the Raptors and Nets, and are 18-2 as the host in 2008-09.

Meanwhile, the Raptors had their two game winning streak come to an end with a home loss to the Celtics. Chris Bosh had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Raptors, who had won four of their previous five before shooting a dreadful 37.8 percent from the field Sunday.

Andrea Bargnani contributed 17 points and nine rebounds for Toronto, which will try to work on its 8-12 road record this evening. Jamario Moon had 15 points in the loss and Jose Calderon returned from a four-game absence due to a hamstring injury, notching six points and three assists.

Boston is 2-0 against the Atlantic Division-rival Raptors this season and has won six of the past seven meetings. The Celtics are 10-2 in the past 12 as the host in this series.
