Redskins place S Horton on IR

Ashburn, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins placed safety Chris Horton on injured reserve Monday.

Horton suffered an ankle injury in a 37-25 loss to Detroit on October 31 during a kick return and did not return to play.

It is the second straight season that Horton suffered a season-ending injury as he sat out the final eight games of the 2009 campaign with a toe ligament injury that required surgery.

In his third season out of UCLA, he has totaled 10 tackles while seeing action mostly on special teams.

To take his spot on the roster, the team signed defensive back Anderson Russell from the practice squad. The rookie played his four collegiate years at Ohio State where he amassed 194 tackles, six interceptions, three sacks and four forced fumbles.

Additionally, the team signed safety Sha'reff Rashad and wide receiver Taurus Johnson to the practice squad and released wide receiver Ray Small from the practice squad.
