Bengals LB Rivers out vs. Steelers

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Keith Rivers missed Sunday's key AFC North matchup with the Steelers.

Rivers sat out of practice this week with a calf injury in addition to an illness that hampered him further on Friday. The second-year USC product hadn't missed a game for the 6-2 Bengals this season and is second on the team with 43 tackles in eight games.

Brandon Johnson will start at linebacker.

Guard Evan Mathis (ankle), who has started seven of eight games, will also be out on Sunday, while the team activated wide receiver Maurice Purify.
