Packers' Thompson sent to hospital

Fri 4th, December 2009

Green Bay, WI (Sports Network) - Green Bay Packers reserve linebacker Jeremy Thompson was taken to the hospital Friday after suffering a neck stinger at practice.

Thompson primarily plays special teams for Green Bay, which hosts Baltimore on Monday night this week.

"Jeremy Thompson experienced a neck stringer right at the end of practice. He's been taken to the hospital for testing," said Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, who noted Thompson was conscious as he was taken away. "It happened in a team drill. He went down, and we're just taking a high side of caution."

The 24-year-old Thompson is in his second season out of Wake Forest. He has one tackle this season.
