Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens have added depth to their secondary by signing former cornerback Corey Ivy and safety Keith Fitzhugh off the New York Jets practice squad.
Ivy played for the Ravens from 2006-08 as a reserve in the secondary and on special teams. The Oklahoma product saw time in all of Baltimore's 32 games over his last two seasons with the club, logging a combined 109 tackles, one interception and 14 passes defensed on defense.
His signing comes in the wake of rookie corner Lardarius Webb being placed on injured reserve Monday with a torn ACL.
"I'm familiar with the coaches and the players here," said Ivy. "I'll need to get up to speed with the ins and outs of the defense. I'm thinking that not much has really changed. The defense is still playing at a high level, and I want to contribute to that."
Fitzhugh is an undrafted rookie out of Mississippi State and provides depth behind injured Ravens safety Ed Reed, who is reportedly seeking a second opinion on his injured hip/groin. Reed has been unable to play in Baltimore's last three games due to the injury.
To make room on the roster, cornerback Marcus Paschal was waived.
