Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers, who will have to make up some major ground in the AFC playoff race if they are to defend their title, will have to do so without long snapper Greg Warren and wide receiver Limas Sweed.
Warren was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after tearing the ACL in his right knee on the final play of Sunday's dramatic 37-36 win over Green Bay, while Sweed was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list.
The nature of Sweed's condition has not been released. Sweed, who has missed the last two games with the undisclosed illness, has just one catch for five yards this season in nine games.
To replace the pair on the roster, Pittsburgh signed long snapper Jared Retkofsky and wide receiver Joey Galloway. Galloway began the season with New England and caught seven passes for 67 yards before being released, while Retkofsky will begin his second stint with Pittsburgh after playing for New York of the UFL.
