Broncos release QB Simms

Englewood, CO (Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos on Monday released quarterback Chris Simms in the wake of the acquisition of Brady Quinn.

On Sunday, the Broncos acquired Quinn from the Browns in exchange for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional 2012 draft pick.

Simms saw action in just three games, including one start, last season, completing 5-of-17 passes for 23 yards and an interception.

The Texas product has completed 297-of-511 passes for 3,117 yards, 18 interceptions, and 12 touchdowns in 23 career games over seven seasons with the Broncos, Titans, and Buccaneers.

Denver now has three QBs on its roster -- Kyle Orton, Quinn, and Tom Brandstater.
