Jets release 21, including LB Satele

Florham Park, NJ (Sports Network) - Rookie linebacker Brashton Satele, one of the roster hopefuls chronicled on HBO's "Hard Knocks" television series this summer, was among the players released Saturday as the New York Jets trimmed their roster to the 53-player maximum.

Satele had opened eyes with solid play during the early stages of training camp, but had been limited by injuries during the preseason. The Hawaii product could return to the team as a member of the practice squad in the coming days.

Also released on Saturday were safety Emanuel Cook, fullback Jason Davis, center Robby Felix, safety Keith Fitzhugh, linebacker Ricky Foley, wide receiver Brooks Foster, tackle Dan Gay, linebacker Tim Knicky, defensive end Jason Lamb, linebacker Boris Lee, linebacker Joshua Mauga, linebacker Cory Reamer, defensive back Bo Smith, defensive lineman Ty Steinkuhler, guard Charlie Tanner, wide receiver Larry Taylor, guard Chet Teofilo, defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu, tackle Michael Turkovich, and safety Donovan Warren.

Also on Saturday, the team placed wide receiver Santonio Holmes on the Reserve/Suspended list, and placed quarterback Erik Ainge and cornerback Darrelle Revis on Reserve/Did Not Report List.

Revis remains embroiled in a much-publicized contract dispute with the team.

The Jets open their season next Monday night, when they host the Baltimore Ravens in their formal opener at New Meadowlands Stadium.
