(Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos, unlike the Arizona Cardinals, are still in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.
Manning threw passes for the Broncos on Friday at Duke University and at least one member of the viewing party walked away impressed.
John Elway, the former Broncos quarterback and current executive vice president of football operations, took to Twitter afterward to express his pleasure about how the workout unfolded.
"We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C. He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there," Elway wrote.
"Watching him throw today was the next step in this important process for our team and Peyton. It was a productive visit and went well."
The Broncos, of course, made the playoffs last season with fan-favorite Tim Tebow under center, although Elway had to work to dispel the perception he wasn't sold on the second-year quarterback.
While the Broncos showed increased interest, another team said it was out of the running altogether to land Manning, the future Hall of Famer who recently parted ways with the Indianapolis Colts after sitting out his 14th season because of multiple neck surgeries.
Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Friday that "acquiring Peyton Manning is no longer an option for us."
Not only did the team declare itself out, it also exercised Kevin Kolb's $7 million roster bonus.
Manning had made a visit to Cardinals headquarters last weekend.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
