NFL Game Summary - Green Bay at Detroit

Final Score: Green Bay 48 - Detroit 25

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Aaron Rodgers had three touchdown passes while Charles Woodson had a pair of interceptions, one for a touchdown, to help the Green Bay Packers to a 48-25 rout of the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.

Rodgers finished the game 24-for-38 with 328 yards and Greg Jennings hauled in six catches for a career-high 167 yards for the Packers (2-0), who have won 14 of their past 16 games against the Lions.

Brandon Jackson had seven carries for 61 yards and a score and Donald Driver finished the game with seven catches for 52 yards and a touchdown for Green Bay, which has won 19 of its past 22 regular-season games since a loss to the New York Jets on December 3, 2006.

Jon Kitna was 21-for-41 with 276 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions and Calvin Johnson finished the contest with six catches for a career-high 129 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions (0-2), who lost for just the sixth time in their past 18 home openers. Rookie Kevin Smith had 10 carries for 40 yards in the loss.

Detroit had rallied in the fourth quarter to take the lead on Johnson's second touchdown catch of the quarter. Green Bay, though, put together a scoring drive on its ensuing possession to take the advantage back. On 2nd-and-13, Rodgers found Jennings wide open and the receiver raced down to the Detroit 23 for a 60-yard play. The drive stalled at the 21-yard line and a 39-yard field goal from Mason Crosby made it a 27-25 game with 5:17 to play.

On the first play after getting the ball back, Kitna threw up a weak pass for Johnson that fell short and Woodson picked it off. Four plays later, Jackson ran the ball in from 19 yards out to give the Packers a 34-25 lead.

Woodson then picked off Kitna again on the first play of Detroit's next touch and took the ball into the end zone on a 41-yard score to seal the victory.

That wasn't the final score, though, as Kitna was victimized a third time, this time by Nate Collins, who took the ball in from 42 yards out for the final score of the game.

Detroit started the fourth quarter with the ball and quickly got into the end zone. On a 1st-and-10, Al Harris was called for pass interference to give Detroit a first down at the Green Bay 45-yard line. Two plays later, Kitna fired a pass over the middle that Johnson bobbled, but he came down with the ball and took it into the end zone on a 38-yard score to make it a 24-16 game with 13:17 left in the game.

Green Bay was forced to punt on its next possession and wound up handing two points to Detroit as a snap to Derrick Frost went through the punter's hands and out of the end zone to make it a 24-18 game with just under 12 minutes to play.

Detroit was unable to move the ball after the punt and had to punt it away, but Green Bay's offense continued to sputter and after a three-and-out had to kick it away.

On the first play, Kitna hit Johnson on a quick inside slant and he broke several tackles on his way to a 47-yard score to give the Lions their first lead of the game, 25-24, with 7:41 to play.

After exchanging punts to start the game, Green Bay put together an impressive drive to take the lead.

Starting with the ball on the Green Bay 14, Rodgers connected with Jennings on a 13-yard play on 3rd-and-8 to move the chains. After a 19-yard run up the middle by Kregg Lumpkin set up a 1st-and-goal, Rodgers, on third down, avoided a defender and hit James Jones in the end zone for a 7-0 lead with 2:06 left in the first. The drive totaled 15 plays and ate up over eight minutes of clock time.

Detroit got a couple of first downs on its next touch and got the ball past midfield, but had to punt and the Packers offense went to work once again.

On the first play of the drive, Jennings was wide open down the field and Rodgers lofted a pass. Jennings, who did not have a defender close to him, waited for the ball and made the catch, then avoided several tacklers on the way to a 62-yard play. Four plays later, Rodgers nailed Driver in the end zone from two yards out for a 14-0 lead with 11:07 to play in the first half.

The Lions offense continued to sputter and after a three-and-out Green Bay got the ball back and again found the end zone. On the first play of the drive Rodgers connected with Donald Lee for 26 yards to get the ball in Detroit territory and, three plays later, Rodgers hit Jordy Nelson in stride down the right sideline for a 29-yard touchdown strike and a 21-0 lead with under seven minutes to play in the second quarter.

After holding Green Bay to a three-and-out for the first time in the game, Detroit put together an 11-play drive and got into the red zone, but it stalled at the 20-yard line and a 38-yard field goal from Jason Hanson with 14 seconds left made it a 21-3 game going into the locker room.

The Lions started the second half with the ball and put together a drive to cut into their deficit. On 2nd-and-10 near midfield, Kitna hit Roy Williams with a quick pass and he took it down the left side for a 23-yard gain. The drive stalled at the Green Bay 31 and a 49-yard field goal from Hanson made it a 21-6 game.

On the Packers' ensuing possession, Dewayne White stripped Rodgers of the ball and recovered it, giving Detroit the ball at the Green Bay 30. However, the Lions were unable to move the ball and a 53-yard field goal from Hanson cut the Lions' deficit to 21-9 with 8:15 left in the third.

Green Bay, though, got the points back on a 13-play, 65-yard drive that was capped on a 25-yard field goal from Crosby with 2:28 remaining in the third.
