Kim downs Wie by three in Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Sports Network) - In Kyung Kim closed with a four-under 68 Saturday to win the Dubai Ladies Masters by three strokes over Michelle Wie.

Kim finished the event at 18-under-par 270.

Wie made an impressive charge in the final round as she closed with a seven- under 65 to take second at minus-15. Wie, trailing by two, tried to close the gap at the par-five closing hole, but found water with her second. She managed to save par after knocking her fourth shot inside five feet.

"I just didn't put a good swing on it. It was just stupid," Wie said of her second to the last. "I feel like I had a good run going. Just the 18th hole, I was kind of annoyed by that second shot. I felt like I tried my hardest out there and I gave it my all."

Maria Hjorth was third at 14-under-par 274 after posing a 68 on the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club.

Kim rebounded from a bogey on the first with birdies on two and three. She collected three more birdies on the back nine, including one at the last to push her winning margin to three.

"I'm very excited to win this week," Kim stated. "Michelle had a great turn. She had six birdies until 13 and was very impressive. But I tried to keep playing my game, and I think I did a good job."

Virginie Lagoutte-Clement fired a seven-under 65 to share fourth place at 11- under-par 277. She was joined by Laura Davies (67), Tania Elosegui (69) and Anna Nordqvist (72).
