Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - D.J. Brigman fired a seven-under 64 on Sunday to come from behind and win the Children's Hospital Invitational at The Ohio State University Scarlet Course.
Brigman finished at 10-under 274 and won by a stroke over Jamie Lovemark, who had a five-under 66 on Sunday.
Third-round leader Nick Flanagan (70), David Mathis (66), Daniel Summerhays (68) and Won Joon Lee (69) shared third place at eight-under 276.
Brigman's first birdie of the round came at the par-four third. He parred his next four and wasn't making any kind of move up the leaderboard.
That was until the eighth. Brigman birdied three in a row around the turn and was seven-under par for the championship. His 30-foot birdie at the 13th got him into a share of the lead at eight-under par.
After nearly holing a chip at 15, Brigman knocked his third shot inches from the cup to set up birdie at the par-five 16th. He reached nine-under par, but was tied for the lead with Summerhays.
At the 14th, Summerhays sailed over the green with his approach and made bogey. Brigman drained a 15-footer for birdie at the par-three 17th and was two in front.
Brigman barely missed a birdie putt at the last, but signed for his 64 and 10- under total. Lovemark could only manage to get to nine-under, leaving it up to Summerhays to force a possible playoff.
Summerhays rallied with a birdie at 16 to get within one shot of the lead. He couldn't get up and down for par at the closing hole, made bogey and finished two behind the champion.
"This is the best of the best," said Brigman, whose only other tour win came at the 2003 Permian Basin Open. "This reinforces that I'm on the right path and I questioned that for a long time."
William McGirt (64) and Trevor Murphy (67) shared seventh at minus-seven, followed by amateur Morgan Hoffmann and Tag Ridings, who both shot 67s to tie for ninth at minus-six.
NOTES: Lovemark's second-place finish moved him to first on the Nationwide Tour money list...There was a one-hour delay to start the round due to weather and the round was played under lift, clean and place...Next week is the Cox Classic, which was won by Rich Barcelo last year.
