San Jacinto, CA (Sports Network) - Keegan Bradley carded a five-under 66 Friday and was alone in the lead when the second round of the Soboba Classic was suspended due to darkness.
Bradley, who shared third place two weeks ago in Boise, completed 36 holes at 11-under-par 131 and was one stroke clear of Scott Sterling and B.J. Staten.
Sterling and Staten both fired six-under 65s Friday to finish two rounds at minus-10.
After a pair of weather delays on Thursday at The Country Club at Soboba Springs, there was another stoppage on Friday that lasted two hours, 50 minutes. The second round was later called for darkness and will resume Saturday morning at 10:15 a.m. (et).
Boise Open winner Hunter Haas posted a 66 to move into a share of fourth place at nine-under-par 133. He stands alongside Daniel Summerhays and William McGirt, who both shot 65 Friday.
Bradley got going with back-to-back birdies from the 10th. He dropped a shot on the 12th, but came back to birdie No. 14. Bradley moved to nine-under with a birdie on the 17th.
However, the 24-year-old faltered to a double-bogey on the par-five 18th to turn at minus-seven.
Bradley bounced back with a birdie on the first. He flew into the lead with three straight birdies from the fourth.
"Once you're in that rain delay and guys are telling you 'good playing' and 'you're doing great' you just want to make sure you don't go out there and do something stupid," said Bradley of the weather delay that hit after his three straight birdies. "I would have taken three pars in a second before I went back out."
He closed with three consecutive pars to end one clear of Sterling and Staten.
"You know if you miss the cut this week it's really going to hurt you," stated Bradley in reference to the $1 million prize fund this week. "I think people who say the pressure doesn't bother them are lying. It's on your mind, but you try not to think of it. This week is obviously a big week for all of us."
NOTES: Haas is one of four players attempting to gain the battlefield promotion to the PGA Tour for their third win of the season...The other three are Chris Kirk, who finished nine holes of the second round at minus-five, Tommy Gainey (67), who is tied for 13th at minus-seven, and Martin Piller, who finished two rounds at plus-two and is likely to miss the cut...Ewan Porter withdrew after the first round ended, while Brian Smock and Scott Dunlap withdrew during the second round because of injury...Jason Gore didn't return to the course after the suspension and was disqualified.
