Nayarit, Mexico (Sports Network) - Oscar Fraustro and Oscar Serna both opened with seven-under 65s Thursday to share the lead after the first round of the Riviera Nayarit Classic.
Paulo Pinto and Efren Serna, Jr. are tied for second at minus-six.
Fraustro started on the back nine and flew out of the gate with five birdies in his first six holes on the Pacifico Course at Punta Mita Club de Golf.
However, Fraustro stumbled to bogeys on 16 and 18 to turn in minus-three. After birdies on four and six, he claimed a share of the lead with back-to- back birdies to close his round.
Oscar Serna birdied the third to get on the board. He poured in three straight birdies from the seventh to make the turn in minus-four.
Around the turn, Serna birdied 12 and 13 to move to six-under. After an eagle on the par-five 15th, Serna tripped to a bogey on 17 to cost himself the out- right lead.
Kent Eger opened with a five-under 67 and he is tied for fifth with Jake Yount, Liam Kendregan and Justin Regier.
Wes Heffernan is one of 10 players tied for ninth at minus-four.
