Francesco Ojeda leads in Colombia

Rionegro, Colombia (Sports Network) - Francesco Ojeda fired a bogey-free, seven-under 65 on Thursday to take the first-round lead of the Abierto Internacional de Golf II Copa Antioquia.

Robert Dinwiddie, Marcus Higley and David Vanegas are knotted in second place at four-under-par 68 at Club Deportivo El Rodeo sede La Macarena.

This is the 2010 season debut for the Canadian Tour and this championship is tri-sanctioned by the Canadian Tour, the Tour de las Americas and the European Challenge Tour.

Ojeda is in his third season on the TLA and has never won.

He started with back-to-back birdies at one and two, but parred his next nine holes. Ojeda did his damage on the back nine with five birdies in a six-hole span to move three clear.

"I really played the putter quite well," said the Argentine. "I stayed patient and the birdies just came to me. My putting hasn't been consistent over the past three years, but I have worked on it a lot lately, making an emphasis on the mental part. We'll see how it goes."

Joaquin Estevez, Cesar Monasterio, Raul Sanz, Jan-Are Larsen, Magnus Carlsson, Julio Zapata, Ryan Blaum, Vince Covello, Julien Xanthopoulous and defending champion Peter Gustafsson share fifth place at three-under 68.

NOTES: This tournament is the first time the Canadian Tour has sanctioned an event in Colombia. The Canadian Tour and Tour de las Americas co-sanctioned events together in 2009 in Chile, Argentina and Costa Rica...Byron Smith finished second on last year's Canadian Tour money list, but shot a five-over 76 on Thursday.
