Fri 19th, February 2010

Rionegro, Colombia (Sports Network) - Francesco Ojeda managed an even-par 71 Friday and was joined in the lead by Oscar Alvarez after two rounds of the Abierto Internacional de Golf II Copa Antioquia.

Alvarez fired a seven-under 64 at Club Deportivo El Rodeo sede La Macarena to join Ojeda at seven-under-par 135 after two rounds.

Nathan Smith posted a six-under 65 to move into a share of third at minus-six. He was joined there by Marcus Higley (69) and David Vanegas (69).

This is the 2010 season debut for the Canadian Tour and this championship is tri-sanctioned by the Canadian Tour, the Tour de las Americas and the European Challenge Tour.

Ojeda started on the back nine and after a bogey on 11, he made eagle on the par-five 12th. He parred his next eight holes before dropping shots on three and six. Ojeda made another eagle on the eighth, but closed his round with his fourth bogey.

Alvarez also started on the 10th and poured in three straight birdies from the 11th. His run ended with a bogey on the 14th, but he came right back with a birdie on 15 to get back to three-under.

Around the turn, Alvarez birdied the second and third before making eagle on the par-five eighth. He parred the ninth, his last to share the halfway lead.

Vincent Covello shot two-under 69 and is alone in sixth at five-under-par 137. Alvaro Velasco (69), Mark Tullo (69) and Raul Sanz (70) share seventh place at minus-four.

NOTES: This tournament is the first time the Canadian Tour has sanctioned an event in Colombia...Defending champion Peter Gustafsson (74) is tied for 32nd at even-par...The cut line fell at two-over-par 144 with 74 players moving on to the weekend...Byron Smith, who finished second on last year's Canadian Tour money list, was among those that missed the cut.
