Rogue earns medalist honors at Canadian Q-school

Beaumont, CA (Sports Network) - Andrew Rogue carded a five-under 67 in the final round to claim medalist honors at the Canadian Tour Qualifying School.

Rogue, who played the final round at The Country Club at Soboba Springs, finished at eight-under-par 280 to win Q School by two strokes.

The 23-year-old Californian was one of 30 players to earn fully exempt status for the 2012 season. Thirty-seven other players earned non-exempt status, which will get them into some, but not all, tour events this year.

Along with The Country Club at Soboba Springs, the Oak Valley Golf Club was used for the four-round tournament.

Kevin Tucker closed with a five-under 67 to take second place at minus-six. Cory Renfrew was one stroke further back after a final-round 68.

Brandon Harkins (71) grabbed fourth place at four-under-par 284. Micah Burke (69), Nicholas Ellis (66), Tyler Aldridge (70) and amateur Nate McCoy (72) shared fifth place at minus-three.

McCoy was one of five amateurs that earned their tour cards.

Also earning their tour cards were Angel Cabrera Jr., the son of two-time major champion Angel Cabrera, and former PGA Tour player Boyd Summerhays.

Peter Campbell started the final round tied for 10th, but faltered to a seven- over 79, which dropped him into a playoff for the final exempt spots. He double-bogeyed the first extra hole in the four-man for three exempt spots playoff to secure the first non-exempt position.
