Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - PGA TOUR - WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS-CA CHAMPIONSHIP, TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Miami, Florida - The season's second World Golf Championships event kicks off this week and much like the first one, it will be without Tiger Woods.

No one knows when Woods will return, but this week seemed a safe bet as he has won this event six times in the tournament's first 10 years.

Minus Woods, and Ryo Ishikawa, the remainder of the world's top-50 players will be part of the 68-man field at Doral this week as Phil Mickelson defends his title. Overall, the field includes 54 of the top 60 players from this week's world rankings.

Mickelson closed with back-to-back rounds of three-under 69 to beat Nick Watney by a single stroke last year. The duo was tied entering the final round and Watney ended alone in second after closing with a 70.

The victory for Mickelson was his first in a WGC event and 36th overall.

This event was held on six different courses over its first seven years, but settled at Doral in 2007. This will be the fourth straight year at the Blue Monster. None of the scoring records have been set at Doral, but the winning score has averaged 15-under par through the three years at the TPC.

Stuart Appleby is missing his third straight WGC event. He had played in 32 of a possible 34 before this week.

Ian Poulter won the WGC-Accenture Match Play earlier this year for his first WGC title.

Golf Channel will have four hours of coverage on Thursday and Friday, before NBC takes over on the weekend for four hours of coverage both Saturday and Sunday.

The PGA Tour remains in Florida next week for the Transitions Championship, where Retief Goosen won last year. The European Tour heads to Morocco for the Hassan II Golf Trophy, where Ernie Els is the defending champion.

PUERTO RICO OPEN, Trump International Golf Club, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico - Those not eligible for the WGC event at Doral will be with the PGA Tour in Puerto Rico this week.

Michael Bradley held off Brett Quigley and Jason Day last year for his third PGA Tour victory. Bradley returns to Trump International this week to defend his title against a field that includes John Daly, Rocco Mediate, Tim Kite and Boo Weekley.

Quigley, who is in his 13th year on the PGA Tour, will also play this week. He is still searching for his first tour victory.

With 54 of the top 60 players in the world playing at Doral, just three of the top-100 players in the world are in Puerto Rico this week. Rory Sabbatini is the highest-ranked player at No. 55, while No. 60 Jeev Milkha Singh and No. 98 Bryce Molder are also competing this week.

The course this week is a composite, as players play on holes from each of the four nines at Trump International Golf Club.

Golf Channel will have tape-delayed coverage of all four rounds.

The PGA Tour moves to Innisbrook next week for the Transitions Championship, where Retief Goosen won last year.
