West Hartford, CT (Sports Network) - Lisa McCloskey fired an eight-under 63 on Tuesday to win medalist honors at the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.
She finished two rounds at eight-under 134 at The Hartford Golf Club.
"It feels good, especially at the U.S. Girls' Junior," said McCloskey of her career-low 63. "I'd rather shoot it here rather than anywhere else."
Stephanie Kim shot a one-under 70 and is second at minus-four.
Madison Pressel, the younger sister of LPGA Tour star Morgan Pressel, managed an even-par 71 and is alone in third at two-under 140.
Jennifer Kirby (73), Ani Gulugian (70) and 2006 winner Jenny Shin (69) share fourth at minus-one.
Kristina Wong (70), Daniela Lendl (69), Emma Talley (72) and Alexis Thompson (71) are knotted in seventh place at even-par 142.
Defending champion Kristen Park managed an even-par 71 on Tuesday and fell into a tie for 15th place at plus-two.
Overnight leader Kyle Roig struggled to an eight-over 79, but still advanced to match play.
There was a nine-player playoff for the final five spots. Chelsey Cothran, Katrina Hegge, Anna Jang, Taylor Schmidt and Christine Song moved on to the match-play portion beginning on Wednesday.
