Rosemont, IL (Sports Network) - Jason Krog recorded his second hat trick of the postseason to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 5-2 win over Wilkes- Barre/Scranton that clinched the Calder Cup championship.
The Wolves, the AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers, won the series four games to two. It is Chicago's second Calder Cup title, with the other one coming in 2002.
Chicago had won the first three games of the series until the Wilkes- Barre/Scranton Penguins -- the top development club of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins -- took the next two. The Penguins took a 5-1 win in Game 5 back in Wilkes-Barre, but the Wolves proved to be too strong and clinched the championship at home.
Krog won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the most valuable player of the Calder Cup Playoffs, as he tallied 12 goals and 26 assists in 24 games. Krog was also named the MVP for the AHL's regular season.
In addition to Krog's three goals, Brett Sterling and Nathan Oystrick scored for Chicago, while Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves in the win.
Mark Ardelan and Luca Caputi each scored for the Penguins, while John Curry stopped 33-of-38 shots in the loss.
