Connecticut still unanimous No. 1; Tennessee drops out of top 10

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Connecticut is again a unanimous choice as the top-ranked team in women's college basketball, according to the latest Associated Press poll released Monday.

The Huskies (15-0) are an undisputed top choice for a seventh straight week with 45 first-place votes and a total of 1,125 points from a nationwide media panel.

North Carolina (16-0) is a unanimous No. 2 selection, followed by Oklahoma, Duke, Baylor, Auburn, Louisville, Texas A&M, Stanford and Notre Dame. Texas A&M dropped five spots from third after a loss to Florida State last week.

The second 10 consists of California, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio State, Texas, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Florida and Iowa State.

Tennessee dropped six spots from seventh after a loss to Vanderbilt on Sunday and has its lowest ranking since finishing 15th in 1986. Texas, meanwhile, has dropped 12 spots from its lofty position at No. 4 two weeks ago.

Vandy's 74-58 win on Sunday vaulted the Commodores six spots from 24th, while Iowa State was unranked last week and is making its second appearance in the poll this season.

The last five teams ranked this week are Marist, Oklahoma State, Rutgers, Georgia Tech and New Mexico, which is back after a one-week absence.

Pittsburgh and South Dakota State fell out of this week's poll.
