McNamara joins Hamilton front office

Hamilton, ON (Sports Network) - The Hamilton Bulldogs announced on Tuesday that Bob McNamara has been appointed the club's president and governor.

"I am pleased to appoint Bob McNamara as the new President and Governor of the Hamilton Bulldogs," stated owner and chairman Michael Andlauer. "With his wealth of experience in both business operations and hockey operations in the American Hockey League, in addition to his intense passion, I'm confident that Bob is the right person to lead our staff as we move forward towards what is going to be an exciting time for both the organization and our fans."

The 50-year-old native of Toronto is a 1983 graduate of Notre Dame, and spent all four years as the starting goaltender for the Irish. He spent the previous 15 seasons as general manager of the Grand Rapids Griffins, and prior to that, five years with Cleveland of the now-defunct International Hockey League as assistant GM.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the Hamilton Bulldogs organization and I want to thank Michael Andlauer for giving me this wonderful opportunity" McNamara stated. "I believe that the greater Hamilton Area is a strong hockey market and I'm confident that with the commitment of our owners and the support of our community and corporate partners, season ticket holders and fans, we're going to successfully build the Bulldogs' brand and grow the already deep roots that the franchise has established in our community."

The Bulldogs finished first in the North Division last season, but lost in the Calder Cup semifinals to Houston.
