(Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks will shoot for their third consecutive victory this evening, when they visit the lowly Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.
Vancouver is coming off back-to-back home wins over Nashville and St. Louis and the mini winning streak has come on the heels of a four-game slide.
The Canucks have 78 points and are tied with Nashville for the eighth and final postseason berth in the Western Conference. Vancouver is also just three points behind Minnesota for the Northwest Division lead, but is still fourth in the division standings.
After slamming the Predators, 6-2, on Thursday, the Canucks posted Saturday's 4-2 decision over the Blues. Brad Isbister and Henrik Sedin scored late in the third period to lift Vancouver past St. Louis at GM Place.
Mattias Ohlund and Alex Burrows also lit the lamp for the Canucks, while Roberto Luongo made 23 stops to post his 30th win of the season.
The Canucks are beginning a five-game road trip tonight and are 15-13-5 as the visiting team this season. Vancouver has lost its last two tests away from British Columbia.
The Kings are last in the NHL with 59 points and have lost six of seven and eight of their last 10 games.
Los Angeles was last in action on Saturday afternoon, when it was dealt a setback by visiting Montreal. Guillaume Latendresse posted a goal and an assist, as the Canadiens notched a 5-2 decision at the Staples Center.
Anze Kopitar registered a goal and an assist for the Kings. Rob Blake also scored and Erik Ersberg allowed four goals on 22 shots in defeat.
The Kings are just 15-18-2 as the host club this year and are wrapping up a three-game homestand tonight.
Los Angeles is 3-0 against the Canucks this year and is trying for its first season sweep of Vancouver since winning all four matchups during the 1980-81 campaign.
The Kings have won five of eight and seven of the last 11 meetings against Vancouver and the Canucks have dropped three of five in the City of Angels.
