(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers will try to put a frustrating loss behind them tonight, when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Wachovia Center for the finale of a home-and-home series.
The Flyers held a 3-0 lead in the third period of Tuesday's contest at Toronto, but wound up losing 4-3 in overtime. Pavel Kubina scored with 56 seconds left in OT to lead the Maple Leafs to the comeback victory at Air Canada Centre.
Philadelphia took its three-goal advantage just 1:12 into the third. However, Mats Sundin scored 4:48 into the period to begin Toronto's rally and Kubina made it a 3-2 contest with 6:44 left. Jeremy Williams would notch the tying goal with 3:41 remaining.
Kubina finished with two goals for the Maple Leafs, who won for the second time in three games.
Sundin finished with a goal and an assist to push his point streak to nine games, the longest current stretch in the NHL. Toronto's captain has eight goals and eight assists during the run.
Scottie Upshall, Braydon Coburn and Daniel Briere scored for the Flyers, who had a brief two-game winning streak snapped. Marty Biron made 51 saves, as Philadelphia was outshot 55-25.
The Flyers fell to 25-1-2 when leading after two periods this season.
With the point, Philadelphia moved four points ahead of Buffalo for the eighth and final playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. Toronto, meanwhile, is seven points behind the Flyers.
The Flyers are 16-13-6 as the host this season, but have lost seven of their last 10 games in the City of Brotherly Love.
Toronto is just 14-16-5 as the visiting team this year and, beginning with tonight's test, the Leafs are playing four of their next five games on the road. The club has won four of five and five of its last seven contests away from Toronto.
The Flyers have won two of three meetings with the Maple Leafs this season, but Toronto has taken nine of the last 12 encounters overall. The Leafs have also come out on top in six of nine and eight of their previous 12 stops at the Wachovia Center.
