Foster carried off on stretcher in Wild-Sharks game

Thu 20th, March 2008

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Minnesota Wild defenseman Kurtis Foster was carried off the ice on a stretcher in the second period of Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss to San Jose, with an apparent leg injury.

With a little more than five minutes gone in the second period, Foster was chasing after the puck toward the endboards with San Jose's Torrey Mitchell. Foster got tangled up, dipped below the glass, and hit the boards with full- force.

Medical personnel came out and stabilized Foster, putting his right leg in a splint. Foster was then taken to local O'Connor Hospital.

Foster, 26, has seven goals and 11 assists in 55 games played this season.
