The Kings became the first No. 8 seed to win the Cup when they downed the New
Jersey Devils, 6-1, in Game 6 on Monday.
Festivities began with the players riding on the roof of several busses with
the Stanley Cup through the streets of Los Angeles, starting at the corner of
Figueroa and West 5th and ending at Staples Center.
Once the parade reached the arena, Kings defenseman Matt Greene acknowledged
'You guys have been unbelievable for us,' he said. 'I know this has been a
long time coming.'
Captain Dustin Brown then handed Greene the Cup and the players raised it over
their heads as confetti rained down and the crowd cheered for the Kings' first
title since their inception in 1967.
