Tampa Bay Lightning (30-34-12) at Pittsburgh Penguins (44-25-7), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Still locked in a battle for the Atlantic Division title, the Pittsburgh Penguins will aim for a third straight victory when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at Mellon Arena.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins are leading New Jersey by one point for the division lead as well as the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Both teams have six games left in the regular season, but Pittsburgh has a chance to pull three points ahead of the idle Devils tonight.

Both Pittsburgh and New Jersey have already clinched spots in the playoffs.

The Lightning, meanwhile, are 10 points out of the final playoff spot in the East, meaning the Bolts are likely headed for their third straight year out of the postseason.

Pittsburgh earned a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon and posted a shootout win the following night against Toronto. The Pens have claimed points in three straight games, going 2-0-1 over that stretch.

The Penguins are also 23-10-4 as the host this year and are playing the third segment of a six-game homestand tonight.

Sidney Crosby scored the game-winner in the shootout to help the Pittsburgh Penguins take a 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Mellon Arena. In the second round, Crosby deposited a wrister into the upper right corner. After Marc-Andre Fleury made a pad save on a Nikolai Kulemin shot, Pascal Dupuis sealed the win with a wrister into the upper left corner of the net.

Crosby scored twice in regulation to grab the goal-scoring lead with 47, one ahead of Washington's Alex Ovechkin. Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy each lit the lamp for the Penguins, while Fleury made 25 stops.

"These are the kinds of games we need to win," said Crosby. "We haven't done a good job of that over the past couple of weeks, but that's typical of what it takes to win. They're not always gonna be easy in this league."

The Penguins played without star forward Evgeni Malkin once again on Sunday. Malkin, who has 24 goals and 70 points this year, is questionable for tonight after missing four straight and six of Pittsburgh's last seven games with a bruised foot.

Pittsburgh's top defenseman Sergei Gonchar has also sat out the last three games with an undisclosed illness and is questionable for tonight.

The Lightning have lost their last two games, falling to 1-2-0 on a four-game road trip that ends tonight.

Tampa Bay was destroyed by Buffalo, 7-1, on Saturday and then was dealt a close regulation loss Tuesday in Columbus. Rick Nash scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner near the midway point of the third period, lifting the Blue Jackets to the 3-2 decision at Nationwide Arena.

Vincent Lecavalier and Mike Lundin scored for the Lightning, who have dropped seven of nine. Antero Niittymaki turned aside 22-of-25 shots in defeat.

Tampa Bay has an awful 11-22-6 record as the guest this year. The Bolts will begin a four-game homestand Friday against the New York Rangers before closing the season on the road against Florida on April 11.

The Pens have taken two of three from Tampa this year and will try to close out the season series with another win tonight.

Overall, Pittsburgh has taken five of six and seven of the last nine meetings between the clubs. The Lightning have lost two straight and three of four in the Steel City, but also has eight wins in their last 11 trips to Pittsburgh.
