Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Miroslav Satan opened the scoring in the first period and recorded the lone goal in the shootout, as the Boston Bruins put to rest their home woes with a 3-2 win over Toronto.

Satan beat Maple Leafs goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere on a nifty deke to the backhand in the third round of the extra segment. Boston netminder Tim Thomas, meanwhile, turned away the trio of Phil Kessel, Jamie Lundmark and Tyler Bozak, who tied the game six minutes into the third period.

Johnny Boychuk also scored in regulation for the Bruins, who improved to 9-9 in shootouts this season and snapped a 10-game winless streak as the host. Boston's last home win occurred at Fenway Park on New Year's Day. The Bruins hadn't won at TD Garden since December 30.

"I didn't take any extra pleasure because it was Phil (Kessel). I needed to get a win, our team needed to get a win," said Thomas of stopping his former Bruin teammate in the shootout. "It's been a long time since we had a win at home."

Thomas finished with 24 saves, while Giguere stopped 29 shots.

Viktor Stalberg had the other goal for Toronto, which has lost four straight.

"I couldn't ask for more from the guys. We had some great chances. I tip my hat to Tim Thomas, he made some huge saves for them," said Leafs coach Ron Wilson.

A kicking motion was ruled to have propelled the puck across the goal line, negating a goal for Boston forward Michael Ryder 63 seconds into the game.

Satan's low wrister from the top of the left circle found room through the pads of Giguere at 9:36.

Stalberg beat Thomas on the short side with 4:33 to play in the first period, but Boychuk unloaded a slap shot past Giguere at 15:24 of the middle stanza for a 2-1 Boston lead.
