Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Mike Comrie scored the decisive goal in the sixth stage of a shootout and had Edmonton's lone score in regulation, as the Oilers clipped the Minnesota Wild, 2-1, at Rexall Place.

Jeff Deslauriers made 28 saves for Edmonton, which snapped a three-game skid. Ryan Potulny and Gilbert Brule also scored in the shootout phase for the Oilers.

"When you're battling hard and not getting the wins it's frustrating and they add up and for us," Comrie said. "I think the thing what he have to do is to continue to work hard. I don't think anybody is happy with the way the season has gone and this organization is continuing to try and change the culture back to the pride of being an Edmonton Oiler."

Guillaume Latendresse had the lone score in regulation for the Wild, and his final attempt to continue the shootout was foiled by a glove save from Deslauriers.

Niklas Backstrom made 22 stops for the Wild, who had won their previous two games but are now five points behind Detroit for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

"We have no excuses," Minnesota coach Todd Richards said. "We didn't play the way needed to play to win the game. We had opportunities in the end to win, but for the most part for the 60 minutes it wasn't the type of game we needed to play."

Mikko Koivu and Marek Zidlicky had shootout tallies for Minnesota.

In the sixth round, Comrie scored on a backhander between the pads to give Edmonton the win.

Comrie scored on a wraparound 6:50 into the game, but Latendresse equaled the score on a similar move 7:34 into the second.

Deslauriers made a save on Andrew Brunette in the dying seconds of overtime as the Oilers were able to kill off a holding penalty on Theo Peckham.
