Final Score: Nashville 2 - Atlanta 1
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Ryan Suter and Colin Wilson scored to propel the Nashville Predators to a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena.
Suter's tally came on a power play early in the first period, while Wilson's goal occurred with just a little over a minute remaining in the opening frame. Dan Ellis stopped 30 shots for the Predators, who stopped a two-game skid.
Nik Antropov scored the lone goal for the Thrashers, who have dropped three in a row. His 17th of season came just 29 seconds into the second period. Goaltender Johan Hedberg recorded 30 saves.
Nashville's Barry Trotz became just the seventh coach in NHL history to record 400 wins with one team.
"The first period I thought we played real well," said Trotz. "I know they were playing with a lot of urgency. I thought we played a real good road period to start."
Nashville ended the second period with a one-goal advantage. But the Thrashers outshot the Predators 15-12 in the final period. However, Ellis stopped all 15 chances.
The Predators had a pair of power plays in the final period, including one after Kevin Klein was whistled for hooking at 10:20. Hedberg was pulled for an extra attacker with less than two minutes left, but Ellis was equal to the task.
The Predators struck first at 4:48 into the opening period, when Suter tipped in a rebound off a Jason Arnott wrister from the left point. The goal was Suter's third of the year.
Nashville added to the lead at 18:38 thanks to a turnover as Mark Popovic coughed up the puck in his own zone. That led Wilson to go in alone on Hedberg for the goal.
"I thought we played pretty well," said Atlanta coach John Anderson. "When you get down two goals, you tend to take a step back from that."
Atlanta got on the board, as Antropov tipped in his 17th this season on a shot from Johnny Oduya. The Thrashers mustered eight more shots in the period, but couldn't find the net again.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
