Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Johan Franzen tallied a pair of goals as Detroit flattened Minnesota, 5-1, at Joe Louis Arena.

Henrik Zetterberg added a goal and two assists and Tomas Holmstrom picked up a goal and a helper for the Red Wings, who have won five of their last seven games.

Jimmy Howard finished with 21 saves.

"It was nice. We have to play with more desperation," Howard said. "That's how we need to play for the rest of the season."

Andrew Ebbett notched the lone score for the Wild, who slid to their fourth straight loss and sixth in eight contests.

Josh Harding was tagged for all five goals on 30 shots in defeat.

"Tonight just wasn't my night," Harding said. "It was bouncing off me, and went off their guys and in the net. It just bounced over top of me and into the net. There's a couple that if I save, who knows what the outcome will be?"

Franzen gave the Wings a 1-0 edge just 2:25 in, then Holmstrom's point blast on the power play and Zetterberg's redirection at even strength tripled the Detroit advantage on scores 56 seconds apart midway through the first.

Ebbett made it 3-1 with 11 seconds left before intermission on a tip-in of a centering feed by Martin Havlat.

Miller's short-handed score with just over seven minutes to play in the second restored the Wings' three-goal edge, then Franzen added his second of the night with 5:17 left in regulation -- a screen shot from the right circle which used a Wild defender to mask the chance.
