NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Minnesota

Final Score: Calgary 3 - Minnesota 4

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Chuck Kobasew registered a pair of goals as Minnesota clipped Calgary, 4-3, at Xcel Energy Center.

Andrew Brunette and Guillaume Latendresse also scored for the Wild, who snapped a two-game slide and won for the fourth time in six games.

Josh Harding stopped 29 shots for the win.

Steve Staios, Ian White and Eric Nystrom tallied for the Flames, who saw a two-game win streak halted and had to deal with a scary injury to forward Daymond Langkow.

"Everything seems to be fine, but they haven't done all the tests yet," said Flames head coach Brent Sutter of his fallen skater.

Miikka Kiprusoff took the loss in relief, allowing the game-winning goal on nine shots for Calgary, which failed to make up ground against the eighth- place Red Wings, who hold a two-point edge over the Flames.

Vesa Toskala started but was pulled after yielding three goals on 12 shots.

Kobasew gave Minnesota a 3-1 lead at 3:05 of the second period, but White snuck a shot through a screen at 5:52. Kobasew struck again for a two-goal Wild edge at 17:23.

Just prior to White's score, Langkow left the game on a stretcher after a bizarre play in the slot. As he was hit in the back by Wild defenseman Greg Zanon, Langkow fell forward head first, and while falling, was struck with the full force of a hard shot by White in the neck.

The veteran pivot was motionless on the ice for several minutes before being transported to a local hospital for observation, where he regained motion in all extremities.

"He injured his neck, but he is moving everything now," said Calgary team physician Dr. Sheldon Byrnes. "He's behaving normally and everything is intact. It's a little early to tell when he'll be back, but they're doing all the magnetic imaging now."

Langkow will remain in St. Paul overnight at a hospital close to the rink for observation.

Nystrom tipped in a Cory Sarich point shot to bring the visitors within 4-3 at the 5:49 mark of the third period.

That was the lone puck to slip past Harding in the final 20 minutes, as he cemented the victory by stopping Jarome Iginla in tight on two chances inside the final minute.

"It's sometimes tough to keep your focus after something happens like that," said Zanon. "They definitely took advantage of the situation to get back in the game. However, Harding made all the saves he needed to make to keep us in the game and hold them at bay."

Staios gave the Flames a one-goal edge with a power-play blast at 12:43 of the first period, but 34 seconds later Brunette equalized for the Wild. Latendresse provided a one-goal edge after one with a power-play tally in the final 42 seconds.
