Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Devan Dubnyk stopped 27-of-28 shots as NHL-worst Edmonton embarrassed sliding San Jose, 5-1, at Rexall Place.

Dustin Penner and Fernando Pisani posted a goal and assist each for the Oilers, who have won two in a row after losing five straight but still hold the league's lowest point total with 53.

Ryane Clowe provided the only offense for the Sharks, who dropped their sixth consecutive game, including the first five on their current six-game road trip that concludes at Minnesota on Tuesday.

Evgeni Nabokov allowed all five goals on 25 shots for San Jose, which fell out of first place in the Pacific Division by one point (97-96) after Phoenix got by Dallas in a shootout earlier Sunday.

"Right now I think we're more concerned with not where we finish, but the way we're playing," said San Jose center Joe Thornton. "We're going through a tough time now, but it might be better for the team to go through it now and get it out of the way before the (playoffs)."

Edmonton jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals 1:13 apart by Robert Nilsson and Penner just after the midway point of the first period. The latter goal was Penner's 100th career tally.

Pisani put the Oilers up by three at 10:14 of the second period with a slick wrister, then Shawn Horcoff and Aaron Johnson beat Nabokov with goals 2:13 apart late in the third to push Edmonton's edge to 5-0.

Dubnyk's shutout bid was spoiled by Clowe's rebound tally with 3:02 remaining, but the visitors didn't have nearly enough to mount a comeback from there.
