NHL Game Summary - NY Islanders at NY Rangers

Final Score: NY Islanders 0 - NY Rangers 5

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Marian Gaborik recorded two goals and an assist, and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 shots for his third shutout of the season (23rd of career), as the New York Rangers blanked the Islanders, 5-0, at Madison Square Garden.

Gaborik's goals came in the first and third periods in a game that was televised in 3-D for the first time in NHL history.

Artem Anisimov, Michael Del Zotto and Dan Girardi also scored for the Rangers, who snapped a three-game slide and are five points behind Boston for the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with nine games remaining.

Dwayne Roloson turned aside 39 shots for the Isles, who lost their third in a row.

This was the first shutout in the series for either team since April 3, 2008, a 3-0 Rangers win.

"They played well. They deserved to win," said Rangers coach John Tortorella. "A lot of guys contributed tonight. I'm just glad the way we played."

After a feisty first few minutes of the opening period, Anisimov lifted a wrister from the right circle past Roloson at the 3:12 mark.

Gaborik made it 2-0 Rangers, as he took a nice pass from Brandon Dubinsky from behind the net, for the easy put in with 14:15 left in the opening period.

The score was set up by a 2-on-1 as Marc Staal took a cross-ice pass and couldn't convert on the breakaway, allowing Dubinsky to grab the puck on the rebound.

The Rangers kept the pressure on as Del Zotto took a pass on the right circle from Gaborik and put it past the sprawling Roloson at 8:30 on the power play, making it 3-0.

"It's a big rivalry with potential playoff hopes on the lines," said Roloson. "And to come out like that is unfortunate."

Neither squad scored in the second period, but the Rangers dominated offensively with 17 shots to the Isles' three.

Gaborik scored his second of the game and team-leading 39th of the season with about nine minutes left in the third on a backhand, driving from left to right untested, after receiving the pass on the left boards from Girardi.

Girardi added to the advantage with a power play blast from the high slot at 16:19.
