Final Score: Phoenix 3 - Nashville 4
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - David Legwand notched the winner in the final round of the shootout, as Nashville shaded Phoenix, 4-3.
With the shootout tied at one apiece, Radim Vrbata was denied to start the third round when his backhander skidded off the goalpost. Legwand ended the contest by sticking a forehand shot between the pads of Ilya Bryzgalov.
Steve Sullivan and Patric Hornqvist posted a goal and assist each for the Predators, who have won seven of eight and moved into fifth place in the Western Conference with 91 points. Nashville vaulted over idle Colorado and Los Angeles, which lost in St. Louis.
Pekka Rinne stopped 32 shots for the win.
Lee Stempniak, Wojtek Wolski and Keith Yandle tallied for the Coyotes, who have dropped two in a row but temporarily pulled into a tie atop the Pacific Division with San Jose. The Sharks, who also have 98 points, host Dallas later Thursday.
Bryzgalov made 28 saves in defeat.
Each side tallied in the opening 20 minutes, with Stempniak scoring for Phoenix at 5:54 then Hornqvist responding for Nashville at 13:09 on a slick backhander.
The Preds wound up with a two-goal advantage heading to the third period thanks to scores by Sullivan at 1:05 and Dan Hamhuis' one-timer from the slot at 9:28.
Phoenix rallied late in the third period with goals a little more than 2 1/2 minutes apart after Wolski and Yandle hit the net.
