Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Nikolai Kulemin's tally 39 seconds into overtime lifted the Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the Rangers and dampened New York's playoff hopes.

Tomas Kaberle attempted to take a shot from just inside the left point that was partially blocked. The puck went behind the net, where Kulemin was stationed, and he was able to place the puck into the net from that spot before Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist could get into position.

Kulemin's 16th goal of the season helped the home team rally from a 2-0 deficit after one period to give Toronto its fifth win in six games. Kulemin also added an assist, while Kaberle and John Mitchell also posted a goal and a helper in the victory.

Jonas Gustavsson made 36 stops in the win for the Leafs, who are all but out of the playoffs, as they trail Boston and Philadelphia by 12 points for the final playoff spot with seven games to play. Gustavsson has now won in each of his last seven starts, not having lost since February 5 at New Jersey.

Brandon Dubinsky and P.A. Parenteau scored for the Rangers, who have lost four of six overall. New York is desperate for points late in the season, and it now stands four points behind the Bruins and Flyers with seven games remaining.

Lundqvist allowed all three goals on 32 shots in defeat.

Toronto halved its deficit 1:33 into the second period. Mikhail Grabovski held the puck behind the net and quickly dished out in front to Mitchell, who one- timed it past Lundqvist from the slot.

Lundqvist seemed to tighten up before allowing a wide-angle goal late in the third period. Kaberle was pinching from the point and had the puck even with the goal post; he fired it toward the net, where Lundqvist left some room, and it snuck underneath Lundqvist's pads with 3:35 remaining in the game.

New York got on the board 10:25 into the first on a goal by Parenteau, who grabbed the puck in the slot with his back facing the net, spun around and fired a shot that slid underneath Gustavsson's right pad.

With 11 seconds remaining in the opening stanza, Dubinsky's wraparound score doubled the Rangers' advantage.
