St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Keith Tkachuk scored the game-winner in the third period as the St. Louis Blues took a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Scottrade Center.
Erik Johnson scored the other goal while Chris Mason stopped 23 shots for the Blues, who have won their past two games. Time is running out in the Blues' postseason hopes. They are eight points behind Colorado for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Patrick O'Sullivan had the lone goal while Devan Dubnyk stopped 29 shots for the Oilers, who have dropped their past two games.
With the score tied in the third, the Blues took the lead as Brad Winchester's shot from the high slot was tipped in by Tkachuk providing a screen in front at the 7:36 mark.
St. Louis killed off a power play later in the third and Mason made eight saves in the final period.
Edmonton scored halfway through the first period when O'Sullivan picked off a pass, skated into the St. Louis end and slipped a low backhand between the pads of Mason for his 11th goal of the season.
The Blues tied the game with a power-play goal with 9:17 to play in the second as Johnson's slap shot from the high slot found its way through the screen and past Dubnyk.
