Nicklas Backstrom, Brooks Laich and Alexander Semin also scored while Alex Ovechkin and Mike Green each posted two helpers to back 23 saves by Michal Neuvirth.

The Capitals have their final tuneup Sunday against Nashville and are a perfect 5-0-0 this preseason.

Chris Clark had a goal and an assist for Columbus, which has two games left to play this preseason.

Mathieu Garon gave up four goals on 37 shots with Nick Holden and Kyle Wilson also scoring in the setback.
