Depending on your perspective, the wait for the Belmont Stakes this year is either three weeks or 30 years long. It will be three weeks between the Preakness and the Belmont, but it has been 30 years since there has been a Triple Crown winner and Big Brown represents as good a chance of an end to that streak as we have seen in a long time. Serious horse racing fans are counting the seconds until their date with destiny, but more casual followers of horse racing are likely just tuning into the sport and trying to get up to speed with what is going on and what everyone is talking about. For those people, here is a list of frequently asked questions that we have been asked. These Belmont Stakes facts will get you up to speed.

What is the Physical address for the Belmont Park racetrack?

Belmont Park
2150 Hempstead Turnpike
Elmont, NY 11003

When is the Belmont Stakes? - The race, the third leg of the Triple Crown, will be taking place on Saturday, June 7. The race will be broadcast from 5:30 to 7:00 ET on ABC, with post time coming after 6:00 p.m.

When will the Belmont Stakes be run? - Aren't you paying attention? It will be run on Saturday, June 7 after 6:00 p.m. ET.

Who won the Belmont Stakes (last year)? - Last year's Belmont made history. It was won by a filly - Rags to Riches. Fillies aren't supposed to be competitive in a race this grueling, but Rags to Riches is no ordinary filly. Her win came against an impressive field. Curlin was third in the Derby and won the Preakness. He has gone on this year to become the most dominant older horse in training with wins in the two richest races in the world - the Breeders Cup Classic and the Dubai World Cup. Hard Spun had finished second in the Derby and third in the Preakness. Rags to Riches would have been in trouble if she wasn't the real deal, but she pulled it off. She engaged in a stunning stretch duel with Curlin and won by a narrow margin. It was the first Triple Crown win for leading trainer Todd Pletcher after an impressive string of failures.

Rags To Riches was bred to win the race. She was out of the same mare as Jazil, the winner of the Belmont in 2006. Her sire, A.P. Indy, won the Belmont in 1992. His sire, Seattle Slew, won the Triple Crown in 1977, and his dam's sire, Secretariat won the Triple Crown in 1973. Casino Drive is entered in the Belmont this year, and he is another half brother to both Rags to Riches and Jazil.

Where is Belmont Stakes horse race run? - This will shock you - the Belmont Stakes take place at Belmont Park. The track is located in Elmont, New York, which is located in Nassau County on Long Island, New York. At a mile and a half long it is the longest track in North America. It still has a dirt surface, just like it did when it opened in 1905. The race was named for August Belmont, Sr., a key figure in the establishment and early funding of the race. There are conflicting stories as to whether the track was named after him or his son, August Belmont II.

What time is the Belmont Stakes? - Again with the same question?!? The race will take place just after 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 7.

What is the time and date of the Belmont Stakes? - This is just getting silly. Once more - the race will be at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 7.

Where can I get the odds on the Belmont Stakes? - This is a question with several answers. The field for the race won't be set until the Wednesday before the race. Before then, obviously, there won't be any odds available. On Wednesday when entries are in the track handicapper will set the morning line odds - the starting point for betting on the race. Those odds will be available here at Doc's Sports and elsewhere on the Internet then. Soon after, you will be able to bet on the races at online sportsbooks like Bodog. As the race gets closer you will be able to bet on the race at racetracks around North America or at off-track betting locations or online betting sites. These sites, along with the Belmont Park Web site, will have updated odds right up to post time.

Who is running in the Belmont Stakes? - The obvious star is Big Brown, the incredibly impressive undefeated winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. His dominance hasn't scared off opponents, though. Chief among them is the aforementioned Casino Drive. He's only run twice in his career - once in Japan where he has been trained since he was bought as a yearling, and once at Belmont Park last month. He won both races in impressive fashion. He's incredibly inexperienced, but he's bred for this race, and is so obviously talented that he's intriguing (to say the least). Other likely entrants include three Kentucky Derby entrants - Third place finisher Denis of Cork, Tale of Ekati who was fourth, and Anak Nakal who ended up seventh. Macho Again was a strong second in the Preakness and is back for another shot at Big Brown. Also from that race is Icabad Crane, who finished third. They will likely be joined by two Todd Pletcher trained runners who are new to the Triple Crown - Behindatthebar won the Coolmore Lexington last time out and was considered for both the Derby and the Preakness, while Ready's Echo was third in the Peter Pan behind Casino Drive.

Who is going to win the Belmont Stakes? - That's for you to decide, but my money will be on Big Brown without question.
