Pre-Breeders' Cup NTRA Poll features Zenyatta

New York, NY (Sports Network) - The last NTRA National Thoroughbred Poll prior the 27th Breeders' Cup remained unchanged from the week before, with Zenyatta receiving all first-place votes.

The World Championships are at Churchill Downs on Friday and Saturday.

Zenyatta, undefeated in 19 career starts, is again the unanimous choice of all 18 voters. Her 180 points remain 32 more than three-year-old colt Lookin At Lucky's 148.

Owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and trained by John Shirreffs, Zenyatta will defend her title in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic on November 6. The six-year-old champion had her final workout for the Classic on Saturday at Hollywood Park.

"It was a tune up," Shirreffs said. "She finished fast, so it wasn't necessarily a 'fast work.' She was fast at the end. That's her style. From here we have fun. Just play. She's got everything done we needed to do. Now we have fun."

Zenyatta, who will be ridden by Mike Smith, will arrive in Louisville on Tuesday.

"She's ready," Smith noted. "I'm always super confident with her. It's racing. She's going to have to get the trip, but if she does, I think we are going to see something phenomenal."

Rounding out the top 10 are Quality Road (126 points), Blame (123), Proviso (79), Gio Ponti (77), Blind Luck (66), Richard's Kid (40), Haynesfield (36) and Goldikova (27).

Lookin At Lucky, Quality Road, Blame, 2009 Classic runner-up Gio Ponti and Haynesfield are all set to challenge Zenyatta in the 1 1/4-mile race.

Proviso will start in the Breeders' Cup Mile versus two-time defending champ Goldikova.

Three-year-old filly Blind Luck is entered in the $2 million Ladies' Classic on Friday.

The final poll will come out Monday following the Breeders' Crown World Championships.
