New York, NY (Sports Network) - Boston Blazers forward Kevin Buchanan is the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week for the games played on the weekend of April 15-16, Week #15 of the 2011 regular season. Buchanan scored five goals and added four assists for a total of nine points in a 16-9 road victory over the Buffalo Bandits. Buchanan has also been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
Colorado Mammoth goaltender Chris Levis has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. Levis collected 40 saves on 47 shots on goal, only allowing 7 goals, in a 11-7 playoff clinching victory over the Western Division leading Calgary Roughnecks.
Brodie Merrill of the Edmonton Rush has been named the Transition Player of the Week. Merrill picked up 21 loose balls, scored a goal and added three assists for a total of four points in an 18-14 win over Toronto.
Boston Blazers defenseman Kyle Rubisch wins Rookie of the Week honors. Rubisch helped anchor a defense that held the Bandits to nine goals. He also scooped up ten loose balls and forced one turnover in a 16-9 victory at Buffalo.
The weekly player awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's ten member clubs.
