Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Ironmen and La Raza de Monterrey, a pair of expansion teams, both qualified for the Major Indoor Soccer League postseason.
New Jersey held on for the sixth and final playoff berth despite losing six of its last eight games. The Ironmen open the postseason Thursday at third-seeded Baltimore, which won the season series 3-1.
Monterrey also struggled late in the season with two losses in its last three games, but held onto the fourth seed. Monterrey plays fifth-seeded Chicago in the quarterfinal round.
Monterrey and Chicago split the season series, 2-2.
Detroit and Milwaukee finished with identical 22-8 records, but Detroit earned the top seed. Both teams received byes into the semifinals.
The championship game is April 26 at U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, Wisc.
