United signs veteran midfielder Morsink

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United signed midfielder Kurt Morsink, the Major League Soccer club announced on Friday.

"We are pleased to be adding Kurt to our team," United General Manager Dave Kasper said. "He is an experienced player who will add solid depth to our midfield."

Morsink played with the Kansas City Wizards the past three seasons, appearing in 47 games.

United also announced on Friday that is has released midfielder Flo N'Galula, who just signed with the club on Jan. 21.

In other United news, midfielder Clyde Simms and defender Marc Burch both underwent surgery this week. Simms had a procedure on his left knee that is expected to keep him out about a month. Burch had a foot and ankle procedure that will keep him out four months.
