United signs defender Admas

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United signed defender Lyle Adams to a developmental contract, the Major League Soccer club announced on Wednesday.

"We're excited to sign Lyle after identifying him at last year's draft as a player that could help us," United General Manager Dave Kasper said. "He is a young player with good potential, who will add quality depth to our backline. We look forward to his contributions to the club."

Adams was a 2009 draft pick who joined United on trial at the beginning of the preseason after trials in Europe went nowhere last season.
