Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - Toronto FC travels to take on the Chicago Fire in a pivotal Major League Soccer match-up on Wednesday at Toyota Park.
Both teams are on the outside looking in at the MLS Cup playoff picture, with the Fire having 10 games left and the Reds having just eight.
"We need points and we need wins," Fire defender C.J. Brown told mlssoccer.com. "One point's not good enough for us. We're at home, so we need three."
Especially considering Toronto (7-9-6) is just 1-8-1 away from its home field this season.
"It's simple, we need to come out and win the game," Fire attacker Patrick Nyarko told mlssoccer.com. "It's crunch time right now [and] we need every point we can get."
Wednesday's match will be the second meeting between the two Eastern Conference rivals this season, with the Reds earning a 4-1 win on May 8 at BMO Field.
"We came out in the second half and we felt we needed to push from the back and we just got all out of sorts," Brown said. "I was stepping in at the wrong time, Wilman Conde was stepping in at the wrong time, the whole back line was disorganized."
The Fire (6-7-7) back-line will be without defender Gonzalo Segares because of a red cared he earned in his team's 1-1 draw vs. Los Angeles on Saturday.
Toronto welcomes back captain Dwayne De Rosario, midfielder Julian de Guzman and defender Nana Attakora after the three missed Saturday's 1-0 loss at FC Dallas because of international duty.
Forward Maicon Santos could also make his return from injury.
"We will see how Maicon is doing [Wednesday]," Toronto coach Preki told his club's website. "He has trained [Tuesday] and looked okay but he hasn't played for quite some time. If he plays against Chicago we will have to limit his minutes because he is not at his full speed and we don't want to take any risks."
Santos is officially listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
Out for Toronto will be forwards Chad Barrett and Fuad Ibrahim, defender Emmanuel Gomez and midfielder Amadou Sanyang, all with injuries.
The Fire have no injuries listed on their report.
