Real Salt Lake (6-6-5) at Chicago (7-5-3), 8:30 p.m.
Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake will aim to keep its spot at the summit of the Western table when it travels to take on the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park on Saturday in Major League Soccer action.
To do that, RSL will have to improve upon a less than stellar away record of 1-6-0 this season.
"Right now is not the most important time to be in first place," RSL midfielder Kyle Beckerman said. "That is going to be at the end of the year. We wanted to be in this position since the start of the season, and to get there is a big feat. We just need to keep going and keep learning and keep getting better as a team."
Chicago will be aiming to correct its current form. Since taking the top spot in the Eastern table with a 5-1 win in New York on May 25, the Fire are 1-3-2, dropping them to third.
Chicago's latest fixture saw it earn a victory over Toronto FC with a stoppage time game winner by John Thorrington.
"I just think it's a great feeling," Thorrington said of the late winner last week. "I don't know what it is, but I definitely feel blessed to do it at any point. It helped contribute to the win. That's the most important thing and I just feel very good about that. We deserved this win and I'm glad we got it."
RSL's last game was a 2-0 win over Columbus, the only clean sheet in the weekend of MLS fixtures.
"I don't think I did anything, it was [Jamison] Olave and that back line," RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando said. "[Nat] Borchers was huge for us. On corners, they didn't have anything. We destroyed every set piece and any ball over the top, with two beasts in the back and with [Ian] Joy and Tony [Beltran] on the outside. We did really well. It made my job real easy."
